Navarathri Fest 2019
Navarathri is an important festival celebrated for 10 days(including Vijaya Dasami) by all Hindus in a vey beautiful manner. First three days are dedicated to Durga (Goddess of strength), next three days for Lakshmi ( Goddess of wealth) & last three days for Saraswathi (Goddess of knowedge).
During Navarathri, we keep GOLU or simply called BOMMAI GOLU in our houses, is a display of gods mud /plastic dolls arranged neatly in steps .
We @ Sree Kamakshi Sloka Academy, had golu dolls arranged in a very pretty manner. Many ladies and children visited our house and cherished the occassion. We offered different varieties of sundal as prasadam for the Goddess everyday and the prasadam was distributed to all the guests.
Every evening, the students of SKSA presented Raagamalika(Garland of songs and slokas ) mainly by singing Mahishasura mardhini, Mahalakshmi Ashtakam, Kanagadhara Stotram, Saraswathi slokams and so on sitting in front of our Golu. Every day our faculties Shri N.Suresh & Smt Lakshmi priya Suresh use to chant ” Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam ” the supreme Goddess sloka.
On the 9th day fest, we performed a Grand pooja for Saraswathi devi by placing a doll/photo of the goddess on the top of heap of books.
Vijaya Dasami Pooja was performed on the 10th day. All students assembled at an auspicious time early in the morning for the pooja and the faculties started the new sloka session with the blessings of the goddess immediately. Prasadams and gifts were distributed to all the students.
The 10days Navarathri fest had a very grand and ceremonial ending on VIjayadasami day.

Field trip(Temple visit)
Sri Kabaleeshwarar temple , Mylapore, Chennai
Educational Field Trip plays a vital role in the Sloka learning which serves a wide range of benefits in several ways including learning and teaching. One of them is that they help students to learn through authentic experience and can be an interesting way to explore new things for both the learners and teachers. we should encourage to engage in field trips which are significant for students. students have ample opportunity to witness new things.
We @ SKSA organised a field trip with few students and parents to ” Sri Kabaleeshwarar ” temple on 22nd Feb 2020.
The students started to rejoicing from the morning itself even though we had planned to start only in the evening.
All of us boarded a Mahindra tourister van sharpely @4.00 pm.The journey of around 12 km proved to be very pleasant one. The children were singing devotional songs on Lord Shiva and other devotional songs until we reached the temple arouund 4.30 pm.
we all entered the temple through the east gopuram and visited the pillayar sannidhi.our children recited few small vinayagar slokas ,immediately we all went and sat in a open mandapam, where we stated our recital concert which lasted on for over 45 minutes..All of us sang various songs and slokas in praise of Shri Kabaleesshwarar, Shri Karpagambal, Shri muruga and various other dieties in the temple. The crowd started gathering around us and cherred us after the completion of each performance. Finally we concluded our Raagamaalika by singing Jai Jagadeesh Hare. The crowd gathered there gave a very great applause and it sounded as if we had been blessed by none other than the God himself…Wow !!! What a divine experience.
Then we visited the sannadhis of shri Karpagambal and shri Kapaleeshwarar. As it was a saturday , hundreds had gathered inside the temple for evening Aarthi. We all were blessed to view the evening Aarthi which was performed with highest level of devotion making each one of us realising the true value and of visiting temples. The amount of satisfaction and happiness we experienced inside the temple was immense and immeasurable.
we left the temple after visiting all the dieties around 6.30 pm and walked to the “Sangeetha’s” veg restaurant.
The children relished all the snack varieties and we elders the tiffen items.
We all boarded the van and reached back home around 9.00pm.
That was a memorable trip indeed where the children learned about a lot of things which cannot be explained in words. Ultimately, the trip proved to be a very successful to us.
